The answer is......Karl "Tuffy" Rhodes. Rhodes would hit just five more home runs that season for the Cubs and later would tie the Japanese single-season homerun record of 55 while playing. With his 3 HR performance, Rhodes became the first National League player to hit three homers on Opening Day.
